The Phantom of the Opera is a 1925 American silent horror film adaptation of Gaston Leroux’s 1910 novel Le Fantôme de l’Opéra, about the deformed Phantom who haunts the Paris Opera House. The plot is a classic love triangle between the Phantom – Erik, an innocent soprano – Christine Daaé, and her suitor the Vicomte Raoul de Chagny. See the whole story played out in the Paris Opera House and in the catacombs below. This is a silent classic which has stood the test of time and several remakes. Today we add our own piece of history as the magnificent console ascends from the pit with Michael Wooldridge at the controls to accompany the film on the historic Worthing Wurlitzer Pipe Organ.
